We loved learning about the incredible work you do, what inspires you, and seeing Plasmidsaurus merch out in the wild. From labs to conferences, the dino showed up everywhere. 🦖

But what inspired us most were the scientific stories behind the entries. Here are just a few of the researchers who shared their work with us:

🔬 Lanier — Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (Madison, Wisconsin)
Lanier researches biofuel production using saccharomyces cerevisiae. Her research focuses on second-generation biofuels by genetically engineering yeast to improve xylose fermentation so that they can effectively utilize lignocellulistic feedstocks and produce biofuel or biofuel pre-cursor molecules.

🦷 Safa — Durham University
Safa investigates bacterial interactions in the human oral microbiome. The oral cavity contains more than 700 species of bacteria, fungi, and viruses that form complex polymicrobial communities, and her work explores how these interactions shape whether the microbiome remains healthy or shifts toward disease.

❤️ Maggie — Stanford University
Maggie works on mapping the regulatory genome that controls heart development, with the goal of better understanding congenital heart disease and ultimately finding ways to correct it.

🌱 Roland — University of Western Australia
Roland studies the ultra-fast growing bacterium Vibrio natriegens, engineering it to convert waste feedstocks into valuable products. His current work focuses on producing biodegradable plastic (PHA) from agricultural waste.
